During our several trips to Taiwan, we stayed at hostels, hotels, and at a luxury hotel. When choosing for the location of a hotel in Taipei, I recommend that you choose your accommodation that's near an MRT Station so it will be easy for you to go around. You may choose a hotel or hostel near Taipei Main Station, Ximen Station, or Taipei 101 Station. Here are the hotels and hostels I have personally tried and stayed at during my previous trips to Taipei, Taiwan.

GRAND HYATT TAIPEI

Location: 2 SongShou Road, Taipei City, Northern Taiwan, Taiwan, 11051 (near Taipei 101 MRT Station)

MY REVIEW: Grand Hyatt Taipei is a 5-star rated hotel and is one of the finest hotels in Taipei. Located at Xinyi district, just beside World Trade Center and opposite Taipei 101, it gives every guest easy access to one of the tallest buildings in the world and to the city's many tourist spots and attractions.

We stayed here for 2 nights and we had a relaxing and luxurious stay. Our room is so luxurious and elegant, the hotel staff are genuinely accommodating, warm and friendly, and the food at the restaurants are truly remarkable. Grand Hyatt Taipei is certainly a one-stop destination for quality hotel accommodation in Taipei.

SLEEPBOX HOSTEL XIMEN

Location: 34 Hengyang Road, Zhongzheng District, Taipei City, Northern Taiwan, Taiwan, 10045 (in between Taipei Main Station and Ximen Station)

MY REVIEW: SleepBox Hostel is where we stayed for the first 2 nights on our trip in Taipei, Taiwan. We booked a Standard Double Room with one double bed and shared toilet and bath. It's a nice and trendy hotel with a common area where guests stay and meet fellow travelers. Everything were fine, but since the rooms are located in the basement, they don't have windows. But for me, it's not a problem, I'm okay with it. Our room is small, but it is clean and well-organized. Location is also good. Convenience stores, restaurants and MRT station are nearby.

ANGELS' HOSTEL - TAIPEI XIMEN

Location: 2F-2, No.51, Hengyang Rd., Zhongzheng District, Zhongzheng District, Taipei City, Northern Taiwan, Taiwan, 100 (in between Taipei Main Station and Ximen Station)

Room Rates per night:

• Shared Male Dormitory - PHP 512.00 per person
• Shared Female Dormitory - PHP 512.00 per person
• Shared Dormitory, Mixed Dorm (1 Double Bed) - PHP 1,617.00 for 2 persons

MY REVIEW: We stayed at Angels' Hostel for one night and stayed in a shared dormitory. The staff is nice and very helpful. It has lovely lounges and common areas where guests could stay and meet other guests. The bed is very comfy and smells good. Everything were good except that the toilet and baths are located outside the dorm room which requires you the access key card for entry or exit. But's it's not a problem. It also has a computer station where you could use the internet for free. They also have a storage room and lockers where you could leave your bags. Very strategic location, it's near MRT Ximending station.

INN CUBE XIMEN

Location: 8F., No.45, Sec. 2, Hankou St., Wanhua, Taipei City, Northern Taiwan, Taiwan, Taiwan (walking distance from Ximen Station)

Room Rates per night:

• Room Selected By Hotel, Shared Bathroom - PHP 1,001.00 for 1 person
• Room, Shared Bathroom (Bunk Bed) - PHP 1,717.00 for 2 persons
• Double Room, Shared Bathroom - PHP 1,860.00 for 2 persons

MY REVIEW: We stayed at Inn Cube Ximen for two nights during our recent trip to Taipei last August 2018. The location is quite good because it's within the Ximending area and just 10-minutes walk from Ximen MRT Station. As it is located at the Ximending Area, it is near convenience stores, restaurants, food kiosks, shopping centers, movie houses, and the night life district of Ximen. The bed and pillows are are comfy, air-conditioning unit is great, and towels provided were clean and changed daily. Everything is good, except that the room is really small. But it's okay, as it is clean, and smells fresh. The staff are nice, friendly, and very helpful. It also has nice common area where guests could lounge and meet other fellow travelers.

SHILIN HOME TAIPEI (West-In 48)

Location: No.48, Xiaoxi St., Shilin Dist., Taipei City, Northern Taiwan, Taiwan, Taiwan (walking distance from Shilin and Jiantan Stations)

MY REVIEW: Located just 5-10 minutes walk from Shilin or Jiantan MRT Stations, Shilin Home Taipei is a nice budget hotel ideal for travelers looking for a good place to stay in Taipei. It offers clean and spacious rooms that will not break your wallet. What I love about this hotel is that it is located within the Shilin Night Market, and is also near Taipei Astronomical Museum, Pu Chi Temple, and Shilin Residence. They also have a chic and trendy coffee shop where we lounge during our stay. So, if you want to stay near Taipei's most popular and biggest night market, you should check out Shilin Home Taipei.

CITY INN HOTEL PLUS XIMEN

MY REVIEW: Located just 2-3 minutes walk from Ximen MRT Station, City Inn Hotel Plus is definitely one of the best hotels in Taipei. Being next to the MRT Station and a short walk to Ximending Shopping District, it is a good place to stay for easy access to the city's top attractions and shopping districts. I love that the rooms are spacious, clean, and well-organized. The staff are nice, friendly, and can communicate well in English. They also provide free drinking water, coffee and tea. They also have a common area at the basement floor where you could lounge, use the computers, or use the mini kitchen. What I love the most is that they have a wash area where you could use the washing machines and dryers for free if you wish to wash your clothes during your trip. This is definitely one of the best hotels in Taipei that I've stayed at. Highly recommended!

ART INN XIMEN TAIPEI

MY REVIEW: Art Inn is an affordable hostel in Taipei near the Ximending Shopping District. Although it is a hostel, the rooms are clean, the bed is comfortable, and the sheets and comforters are clean and fresh. Each floor has 2 common toilet and bath with basic toiletries such as shampoo and body wash that you can use. The room may be small, but it's worth every peso we spent. If you're looking for a cheap and budget-friendly hostel in Taipei, I recommend Art Inn Ximen!
