Traveling to Hong Kong this 2024? If you're looking for cheap and affordable hotels in Hong Kong, here are some of my recommended budget-friendly hotels in HK that I have personally tried.
Known to be an expensive city to travel, hotels are indeed expensive in Hong Kong. But there are still many options to stay at if you're traveling to Hong Kong on a budget. There are many budget hotels, hostels, and guest houses in Hong Kong that are located in convenient locations and can fit your travel budget. Even if you're "traveling on a budget", finding cheap hotels in Hong Kong is not a problem. Let me share to you the budget-friendly hotels we stayed at on our previous travels to HK, and I hope this blog helps you in finding affordable places to stay on your next trip to Hong Kong.
THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN CHOOSING AN ACCOMMODATION IN HONG KONG
LOCATION
First on our list of considerations is the location. We chose to stay along Nathan Road at Tsim Sha Tsui (TST) area on Kowloon Island. This area is known for many budget hotels, guest houses, and backpackers' inns. For me, it's the best choice for us because the area is a commercial district, has MTR station, restaurants, fast food chains, convenience stores, money changers, shops, and almost everything we need are here.
As I always recommend, staying in a budget hotel/hostel/guesthouse that is near an MTR station should be considered so that it would be easy for you to go around and visit Hong Kong's top tourist attractions. We stayed at hostels, inns, and guesthouses that are located at Mirador Mansion, Golden Crown Court Building, along Nathan Road in Tsim Sha Tsui and one in Haiphong Road also near Nathan Road in Tsim Sha Tsui.
PRICE
Second and the most important that we considered is the price. We chose a hotel that fits our budget which is 1,500 to 2,500 pesos per night for 2 persons.
GUEST RATINGS AND REVIEW
Third and last in our list considerations is the guest reviews and rating. It has to have at least a "Very Good" to "Excellent" guest ratings. Don't just decide based on photos. Reading guest reviews is very important when choosing a hotel to stay at because it gives you an insight on the first-hand experience of guests who have actually stayed at the hotels you're looking at.
BUDGET HOTELS IN HONG KONG
We did a quick search on the Agoda using "Tsim Sha Tsui" as the location, we sorted the result by price (lowest to highest) then read the guest reviews and ratings. We decided to stay and book at these budget-friendly hotels in Tsim Sha Tsui.
With this Let me share to you the hostels, inns, and guest houses that we have personally tried and stayed at during our trips to Hong Kong.

MY REVIEW: This is my most favorite among all the budget hotels we stayed at in Hong Kong. As expected, the room is small, but it's clean, organized and well-kept. As a hostel, they offer bunk beds for single or solo travelers. If you want more privacy, you may book one of their private rooms. The staff are nice and speaks English very well. They also have a common area where there is a lounging area, a television set, and free flowing coffee. I also love their balcony/smoking area with an amazing view of the city. At 2,500 pesos per night for a private room for 2 persons with private toilet and bath and complimentary WiFi connection, Urban Pack Hostel is quite a good deal!
Hao's Inn, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong
Address: Flat E, 5/F, Golden Crown Court, 66-70 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong, Kowloon, Hong Kong
Guests' Rating: Very Good on Tripadvisor

MY REVIEW: Hao's Inn is located at Golden Crown Court Building, along Nathan Road in Tsim Sha Tsui. Their rooms are bigger compared to the other budget hotels in Hong Kong that we've stayed at. The rooms are also clean and well-organized. The staff is a nice Filipina lady, and she took care of us very well. Location is superb! Tsim Sha Tsui and East Tsim Sha Tsui MTR Stations could easily be accessed by walking for about one to two minutes from the hostel. They cleaned our room everyday and change the towels as well. The private toilet is small, but it's okay. It has hot and cold shower, a clean water closet and a small sink with mirror. Basic toiletries such as tissue paper and shampoo/body wash were also provided. Hao's Inn is a good choice when staying at Tsim Sha Tsui area.
Hong Kong Premium Guest House

Guests' Rating: Very Good on Tripadvisor

MY REVIEW: Located at Mirador Mansion along Nathan Road, Hong Kong Premium Guest House provides easy access to the MTR TST Station and to bus stop A 21 going to the airport. From all the budget hotels in Hong Kong we stayed at, this has the smallest room. Although small, the room is clean, the bed is soft, and the beddings are clean and fresh. It is managed by Indians that are very nice, helpful, and speak English very well. Because the room is small, this is ideal for budget travelers who just need a place to sleep at night. Hong Kong Premium Guest House offers very cheap room rates starting at PHP 1,500 pesos per night for a private room for 2 persons with private toilet and bath with hot shower. What I like most is that, they have a mini pantry were you could reheat your food and they also provide complimentary drinking water.
Jas Guest House Hong Kong

Guests' Rating: Very Good on Tripadvisor

MY REVIEW: Also located at Mirador Mansion, Jas Guest House is my least favorite among all the budget hotels in Hong Kong we've stayed at. The rooms are okay, but it is a bit old. If you are looking for a place to stay, this is one affordable room for you. But not for the meticulous ones. The only thing we liked here is that the cleaning personnel is a Filipina who took care of all our needs. She also manages the guest house when the owner is not around. She's very nice, helpful, and always checks on us if we're doing okay or if we need anything.
I hope this list of budget hotels in Hong Kong help you in choosing a place to stay for your next trip to Hong Kong!
Note: Room rates are subject to change and depends on the season and on your booking dates.
