The amazing four-day Arabian Travel Market Event held at Dubai World Trade Centre began on 9th May and culminated on 12th May 2022. The event has been a benchmark in the travel industry, especially considering the global pandemic situation and its impact on businesses especially tourism on a global scale.
Government delegates, Tourism experts and businesses directly dependent on tourism from over 150 countries, were in Dubai to participate in the Middle East's Largest Travel & Tourism Industry Event this year.

The 29th Edition of Arabian Travel Market 2022 was inaugurated by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, and Chairman of Dubai World.
The event was witnessed by more than 23,000 visitors justifying the assured success as stated by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum in his inaugural statements. The event hosted over 1,500 exhibitors from different countries around the globe, expecting to contribute more to the Middle East's existing multi-billion-dollar tourism industry.
The event will go live virtually on the 17th and 18th of May, 2022.
Incredible India in the Arabian Travel Market 2022
The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, with its tourism flagship "Incredible India," focuses on rejuvenating the tourism industry to promote it as a "Must See, Must Visit" tourist destination.
The Indian pavilion was represented by a team of 18 participants with members from The Ministry of Tourism and State Government Tourism representatives from Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Nagaland, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Karnataka. The team also consisted of members representing the private industry. It included members such as hoteliers, resort owners, and tourist operators.

The Incredible India pavilion of the Arabian Travel Market 2022 was inaugurated by Mr. Rupinder Brar, Additional Director General of India - Ministry of Tourism, accompanied by Dr. Aman Puri, H.E. Consul General of India in Dubai, Mr. Satpal Maharaj, Minister of Tourism - state of Uttarakhand, Mr. Sheo Shekhar Shukla, Principal Secretary, Tourism & MD, Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board and Mr. Kitto Zhimomi, Commissioner & Secretary, Government of Nagaland.
Regarding promoting the Indian Travel and Tourism Industry, 'Incredible India' has been a one-of-a-kind effort from the government and the private industry to promote two-way growth in terms of economy and the industry.
Along with the rest of the world, India has faced a major setback in the tourism industry post the covid-19 pandemic, with visitors standing just above 6 million, the same as back in 2011. And that's just a third of the number of visitors that visited India in 2018 (before Covid).
Having reopened India for tourism after three waves of COVID-19, the government and the private sector tourism industry are concentrating on the Gulf region to forge new two-way collaborations in hospitality and leisure travel.
The panel members also acknowledged that Covid induced travel restrictions in various countries had its toll on the Travel & Tourism Industry and the Middle East, with Arabian Travel Market Event offering a lucrative opportunity to promote tourism.
The Middle East is responsible for a major share in the Indian Tourism Industry and economy, with people visiting India for various reasons, including meetings, conferences, expos, medicinal and tourism purposes, and India plans to make more from it. There are several options available in terms of transport, with businesses such as Air India Express offering some of the most budget-friendly and economic travel options to the country.
India - the 365 Days Destination for your Travel
India pavilion at the event kept its focus and emphasis on highlighting the country as a year-round travel destination in the form of '365 Days Destination', highlighting the multi-faceted tourism covering destinations of cultural importance, wildlife, adventure & wellness, as well as the niche products of.
Unlike previous years, India has shifted its approach this year, opening with a theme-based design accompanied by a 'Namaste India' campaign to welcome and promote International tourism.
Indian pavilion also sighted Rakul Preet Singh, famed Indian Actress, K. Kalimuthu, Counsel for Economic Trade and Commerce, India, Shweta Subram, International Singer, and Mr. Prashant Ranjan, Director Tourism, Ministry of India. The press conference was a delightful sight for Indians as the panel showed its keen impact on resolving the tourism challenges of the untouched parts of India - the North East, with Nagaland being a major part of the pavilion at the Indian end.
Rakul Preet Singh had iterated the same, a Bollywood celebrity who highlighted the potential of India being a great film-making destination as it has one of the complete geographic diversity within, ranging from the snow-covered the Himalayas to the dry dunes of Thar and the lovely coasts of the Western & Eastern Ghats, to the dense wildlife-filled forests of Madhya Pradesh.
Shweta Subram offered valuable insights on the role social media influencers can play in promoting and growing the tourism industry. Arabian Travel Market is one of the leading Annual Tourism Events in the Middle East organized in Dubai. The event started back in 1994, with its host location being Dubai's International Convention and Exhibition Centre. The event marked a major success in its journey in 2014, attracting more than 2,700 exhibitors and over 21,000 trade visitors from over 150 countries.
India has been a major source for Dubai in terms of visitors, with over 900,000 visitors being from India alone in 2021. Issam Kazim, the Chief Executive Officer for Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing, assured India's strong ties and stated that they would be looking into every possible opportunity within the Indian market to collaborate and connect the dots.
With a major step towards promoting tourism in the Middle East, the upscaled interest of the Ministry of Tourism of the Government of India has invested in the fourth such event in the past four months that majorly focuses on Middle East Tourism promotion. India also launched a virtual Tourism Roadshow, ' Incredible India Reconnect 2022 - Oman', to boost India - Oman Tourism; the event was held between the 26th and 28th of April, 2022.
